This week one, Julie Lol and I went to see 'The other Boleyn girl' - It was very good but as history is not my Strong point - when i was asked the next day whether it was true to actual events i didn't have a clue!
so here is a bit of history that i learnt on Wednesday night:
King Henry VIII married Catherine (widow of his brother, Arthur) in 1509, divorcing her in 1533; the union produced one daughter, Mary. Mean while he has an affair with Mary Boleyn and she falls pregnant with the king's bastard. She gives birth to two children Catherine and Henry. However, while she is pregnant, Anne (her sister) sets out to seduce the king and steal him away from her sister. She is successful, and the King flirts with Anne by day and sleeps with Mary by night. In the process he breaks Mary's heart, who has by now fallen in love with him. Henry married the pregnant Anne Boleyn in 1533; she gave him another daughter, Elizabeth, but she was executed for infidelity (a treasonous charge in the king's consort) in May 1536.
the film it self was a bit gruesome with 2 be headings and a rape and lots of horrid births but was good to go out and go to the cinema.
the fun bits were definatly Lol loosing the car park ticket and having to go round and round the car park and catching up on each other news.
Thanks for a good evening girls - we must do it again soon.
